40 book challenge : Hunger Games

New Ending

There I sat next to the window, looking outside from my room on the train. Sitting there reminded me for the first time, after the Hunger Games, I was able to hear my heartbeat. It was not because I was afraid, but I was staying still in peace. Then I started thinking what life would be now since I am the new victor of the seventy-fifth Hunger Games, along with Peeta. Having all the money in the world to buy the food I was never able to afford. Also, another problem strikes me, that is what is going to happen at the victor tour. Having to see all the faces of the tribute's family's, knowing that I killed their child. When they probably see my face they will try to make their looks, incognito or disguised, that they were mourning for about their child's death for the past couple of months.

One person I remember as clear as day that I killed in the games was this boy named Cato. The night before he died he was taken away by a pack of mutant mutts. The next day I came to kill him, he was bloody and maimed by the mutts. The last words I saw him try to plead was, please, then I shot an arrow through his head. I know it was not right of me to kill those tributes, but what other choices did I have?  If did not do that I would be dead, just like the others and I would not have been able to keep the promise I made with Prim, my little sister.

Post 2 of Novel

There Olivia sat looking at the body of water that never ends, how it flowed back and forth like a rocking chair. Then she heard something like a pair of foot steps that was coming closer to her. Olivia quickly turns her head to the direction of what is making the noise, the first thing she saw was the person's pearly, white teeth. Suddenly, Olivia's face lights up and rushes to hug her father, the man in the plain blue shirt and Capri's.

"Hi, daddy I am so glad you are back home. It has been long two weeks, especially with Aunt Sarah taking care of me. So, where is mom?" Olivia said.

"Hey! It's nice to see you too. Oh, um . . . mom is still at her mission," replied dad.

"Daddy, did you just say mom is on a mission?"questioned Olivia.

"No sorry I meant at a meeting, yeah she is at a meeting", stuttered her father, while he scratched the back of his head.

Sensory Details

Before
At the beach on a cloudy day.

After

My first bare step from the wood's scratchy surface to the wet patted down cement -like sand.  I stood feeling the light beach breeze, the one that has the sent of salt from the ocean and the sea creatures that came from it. Each step I took it went " flip, flop" because of the sandals I decided to put on. At this moment half -way to my salty and watery destination. The view was beautiful having the sight of the bright blue ocean . Also, the seeing of the white foamy ends of the waves each time it repeats. There it is, only a few feet away, feeling its mist. Then I stop walking, groping for the towel in my bag, the one that is small with a tie-die design, I finally found it. Taking grip of it I tugged the colorful item, then I layed it out and took a seat looking at the view mother nature's natural beauty.

The Irish Adventure

                            The Irish Adventure
                                                By Valerie Lozano

It was a bright sunny afternoon in a peaceful neighborhood an adventure just awaits. “Oh, yeah”, exclaimed Lily, when she shoved her fist in the air.

“What is going on Lily, are you ok?” questioned Lily’s mom.

“Yes, mom I’m fine I was just”-

“Acting like a barbaric girl because you won on the Wii”, interrupted Lucas, Lily’s twin brother.

“Seriously did you have to burst my bubbly mood”, replied Lily.

“ It’s my job, hey mom where are you going?” asked Lucas.

“I’m going back to do the laundry”, said mother and then she left.

“Thud”. Lily and Lucas looked at each other in confusement, you can tell they were bewildered because one second their eyes were a calm baby blue then the they were dark green. “What was that?” asked Lily.

“I do not know, but it sounded like it came from the attic”, replied Lucas. The twins walked the caramel colored stairs and arrived at their destination the attic.

When they opened the door at first they saw nothing, but then they saw a little man about two feet tall, with a green silk suit and green hand made shoes. He had lime green eyes they were so light you could mistake them for cat eyes. Also, he had fiery orange hair and a beard. “Aw my lad, the pixie said I made her shoes too big, I found out her shoe size is one centimeter”, said the little man.

“Excuse me little man are you a Leprechaun?” questioned Lily. The little man was frightened and sneaky so he dashed to the window and tried to run out.

The little man’s attempt did not work because Lucas picked him up with his peachy hands. “ I know exactly what you are”, said Lucas.

“ Oh yah lassie, what do you think I am?” replied the little man in a nasty tone.

“You are a Leprechaun”, exclaimed Lucas.

“Wait a minute I thought Leprechauns  wore leather aprons”, said Lily.

“Yes we used to, but now the head Leprechaun said to change our clothes”, said the Leprechaun.
While the Leprechaun was talking Lucas duck-taped him on the wall. “Lucas! What was that for?” said Lily.

“Lily don’t you remember, Leprechaun are vicious creatures. So, if you want their pot of gold you have to be as vicious as them, to get what you want”, explained Lucas.

“Oh right”, said Lily. Lily starting pulling on the little man’s beard and said, “Tell us where the pot of gold is!”

“All right, all right”-“Dinner time kids!” mom announced. Lily and Lucas both turned their heads in the direction their mom was calling from and then Lily explained, “Mom, we can’t there is a Leprechaun that is going to tell us where the pot of gold is”.

“It’s true mom”, added Lucas. But when the twins turned their heads back the Leprechaun was gone.

Article of The Lord of the Rings

Who would have known a ring could have been a protagonist in a book and the movie? There is in the book The Lord of the Rings. It is about a hobbit named Frodo and learning how one ring has so much power. Also, his responsibility he must do to destroy it.

JRR Tolkien

A writer had a big book that he needed to make the story in three books. The three books are called The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring, Two Towers, and The Return of the King. This person wrote the fantasy books in the years 1954-1955. In those years the book started getting a public notice. The person who wrote The Lord of the Rings books was JRR Tolkien. In Tolkien’s childhood he enjoyed writing myths and that’s what leads him to his creation of The Lord of the Rings trilogy.

Peter Jackson

JRR Tolkien’s creation of the Lord of the Rings was so good. A director named Peter Jackson made a movie out of it. In Peter’s childhood he liked making short films, special effects and taking pictures. When Peter Jackson was younger he made a film called Bad Taste in 1987. That film started making Peter famous. After he made his first professional movie he started making horror movies. Later on in his life when Peter wrote plenty of movies, he wanted to direct the movie Lord of the Rings. Instead of making one movie like Tolkien’s book he made three. He made of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring was made in 2001, Two Towers 2002 and The Return of the King in the year 2003. In the making of the third movie, The Return of the King Peter really enjoyed creating it. Peter Jackson won an academy award and an Oscar, because of The Lord of the Rings. Even though winning an Oscar was an amazing experience for Peter Jackson he said. He made the movie for his audience not to win the Oscars.
Frodo
In the book and the movie Lord of the Rings, the main character was Frodo Baggins. Elijah Wood plays Frodo Baggins. Frodo Baggins is a hobbit. In the story and the movie the hobbit was known as the ring-bearer and he was the most important member of the Fellowship of the Ring. He lived in the Shire his whole life with his uncle Bilbo Baggins. Bilbo is Frodo’s guardian because he adopted Frodo after his
parents sadly, passed away. Frodo has not gone out of the Shire until he took his quest to destroy the ring in the fires of Mordor.Where the ring was once created, and then wanted to be destroyed.
The Ring
“The one ring will rule them all …Who would have known a ring could have so much power? The ring’s owner was Sauron. One day there was a battle between the Elves, Humans on one side and the orchs, Sauron on the other. Then during the battle Isildur took his father’s sword and destroyed Sauron. After that Sauron ended up as an eye on a high tower. So, the ring of power was then in possession of Isildur. Then, orchs came to take the ring from Isildur. Later on that day Isildur was found dead and the ring was lost in the river. In years a hobbit once named Smégol found the ring, in weeks the ring had so much power it turned Smégol into a creature. Then he was called Gollum. Gollum called the ring “precious”. Year after Bilbo Baggins found the ring when he turned 300, he still the way he did when he found the ring. Soon after Bilbo passed the ring to Frodo. Once Frodo discovered that he must destroy the ring. He sets off in his journey. The thing that I would wonder about is will Frodo succeed or will the power of the ring will take over him?
In the end of the journey of the courageous little hobbit had a quest. So he can restore peace in his home and many other places. Also, to end war between evil creatures and humans to win the ring. Now you wonder will  Frodo be able to succeed his quest? Or will the ring someway find its way back to its original owner Sauron.

A Piece of my Writing!

There is this person it is a girl. As I observe she sits there on the carmel colored porch, with a notebook placed in her hands. Her hair is short and silky. Also, it is the color of dark chocolate. She sits at the porch until dusk writing her thoughts down. The thoughts and feelings pour down on the blue sea colored notebook, they pour down on the notebook like million of raindrops that form a river that never ends. The petite girl's pen flows on her fragile, peachy hand like a smooth piece of glass. Then at the end, her dark brown eyes look left to right repeatedly until she makes her writing perfect.

What is Valentines Day to me?

When I think of Valentines Day it is not always about having a companion beside you giving you chocolate and a bouquet of flowers. I believe Valentines Day is about telling how you love your family so much and also how you appreciate them. Also, I learn that there should not be one day to show how you love someone it should be everyday! :)

The Total Tragedy of a Girl Named Hamlet

The Total Tragedy of a Girl Named Hamlet by Erin Dionne
I  recently read the book  The Total Tragedy of a Girl Named Hamlet. The author of the book is Erin Dionne. The book is about a girl named Hamlet Kennedy , Hamlet's life is like a regular teenage life except its worse. Hamlet has a sister named Desdemona, but Hamlet calls her Dezzie for short. The most weirdest thing for Hamlet having Dezzie as a sister is she is a genius and she is only seven year old! The effect of Hamlet having a genius sister, Dezzie is now in eighth grade with her. Also, Hamlet's mom and dad are obsessed with Shakespeare and they are coming to her school. Now Hamlet is terrified for her mom and dad to come to Howard Hoffer Junior High School because they will probably humiliate her. All members of the Kennedy family are obsessed with Shakespeare except Hamlet. Soon in the book Hamlet discovered that she had a talent that had to do with Shakespeare. Plus there is more news for Hamlet, but if you would to find what happens in the book. I would recommend you to read the book The Total Tragedy of a Girl Named Hamlet.

Dancing

Go to fullsize image           When I was three years old I started going to dance class. I started taking Ballet and Tap. Also, in dance class I made lots of friends that is one of so many reasons for me enjoying dance class. Another reason I like dancing is my cousin and I are in the same dance class.  My most favorite part of dance class is at the end of the year my class and I have a recital. That is when my class and I perform a dance for each class I take. I enjoy dancing so much that I still go to dance class to this day. Now I take Tap, Hip-Hop and Jazz.

Mesopotamian Website

I was researching for Sumerian writing and I came across this website: http://www.fsmitha.com/h1/ch01.html. The person who made the website is Frank E. Smitha. I checked out the website, I think it is a reliable website because it gives you lots of useful information it is like reading a social studies text book. That is one out of many things I like about the website.Only there was one thing that I disliked about the website it was that you could not be able to contact the person. The pictures on the website are helpful because you get to see what the artifacts really looked like. The pictures were neatly posted on the page and at the right places where they have should have been. The page is very nice to look at because it is neat and colorful. This website is very useful and helpful for information on Sumerian writing.
