40 book challenge : Hunger Games

New Ending

There I sat next to the window, looking outside from my room on the train. Sitting there reminded me for the first time, after the Hunger Games, I was able to hear my heartbeat. It was not because I was afraid, but I was staying still in peace. Then I started thinking what life would be now since I am the new victor of the seventy-fifth Hunger Games, along with Peeta. Having all the money in the world to buy the food I was never able to afford. Also, another problem strikes me, that is what is going to happen at the victor tour. Having to see all the faces of the tribute's family's, knowing that I killed their child. When they probably see my face they will try to make their looks, incognito or disguised, that they were mourning for about their child's death for the past couple of months.

One person I remember as clear as day that I killed in the games was this boy named Cato. The night before he died he was taken away by a pack of mutant mutts. The next day I came to kill him, he was bloody and maimed by the mutts. The last words I saw him try to plead was, please, then I shot an arrow through his head. I know it was not right of me to kill those tributes, but what other choices did I have?  If did not do that I would be dead, just like the others and I would not have been able to keep the promise I made with Prim, my little sister.
