In The Total Tradegy of a Girl Named Hamlet I have read two more chapters. As you get deeper in the story, Hamlet finds out Dezzie had made new friends they are Saber and Mauri. Unfortunately, Dezzie had made friends with last people Hamlet would ever talk to. During chapter five Hamlet finds out more about her project on Shakespeare. Then she goes to her algebra ,while she is in her class she explains how it is a plus to have a genius little sister to help her out in school, but also how it is kind of a downer too. After that, Hamlet dropped off her sister at next stop, going home. Eventually, it was time for lunch instead of Hamlet getting able to sit with her friends at a lunch table, she made an innocent mistake and sat in Saber and Mauri's table. During her transition to the cafeteria to her next class she spotted Ty, her best friend, with a look of hurt on his face. At the end of the day, she met with Ty, apologized about the lunch table incident. Then, their conversation changed to why would Saber and Mauri want to be friends with Dezzie.
As I read deeper in the story, I can tell another trait about Hamlet she is humble. On page 13 in the text it states ," Of course our desks were in the middle of the room." This passage in the text shows that Hamlet is not shy, but she prefers not to be the center of attention. Also, on page 32 it says," I am going to lunch now . . . " This except shows that Hamlet is telling her mom she has to go that means she wants to be left alone, independent ,and does not want anymore attention any more.
This was a good post, but I don't think your quotes represent why Hamlet is humble. Humble means to not be conceited or anything like Jeremy Lin or Derrick Rose. Other than that, everything was good like the recap of what you read.
ReplyDeleteThank you and I will fix that.
DeleteI agree with Jacob. To be humble is to be good at something, but does not admit it and does not brag about it. But I think you had the right idea and you had good quotes.
