As I read deeper in the book The Total Tragedy of a Girl Named Hamlet, I learned Hamlet likes to be left alone (not have any attention) especially from her parents. Right now she does not need it, the possibility her parents could help out her class in anything with Shakespeare. The result of that would be embarrassing and the repercussions of that would make her get made fun of. Also, she doesn't want her parents to find out her talent which is reading Skakespeare plays. Hamlet thinks it's "more a curse than a gift." She is afraid to have anything in common with her medieval obsessed family.
Throughout the chapters I learned more things abut Dezzie, like if she does not think she did a good job on something, or even if is not perfectly the way she imagined it in her mind. She gets mad and upset.
If I ever had a choice to be friends with a character in the book I would choose Ty, Hamlet's best friend. My choice would be Ty because he is the type of person that will stand up for you in certain situations. For example, on page 90 it says "I saw your mom today, when she came to pick up your sister (Saber said) ... what do you want? (said Ty) This excerpt shows that when Saber was talking to Hamlet trying to tease her about her family. Then Ty gave her a nasty reply to make Saber go away, and leave Hamlet alone. This is why I would like to have Ty as a friend.
